Series 2126-O2 (“Orbita-2”) became a turning point in the development of the Izh-2126 design – “chopped” shapes began to give way to complex rounded surfaces. The car received modern sidelights that extend to the corners of the body, and rear lights made in the same vein. Instead of four round headlights, two rectangular ones were used. At the same time, the general concept of the body side remains the same.

The red demonstration Izh-2126-O2, along with other prototypes, was stored in the basements of the automobile plant in Izhevsk. In the 1990s, it was photographed by journalist Sergei Tsyganov, and in 2013 the car was moved to the courtyard, under the open sky. Since then, traces of the car have been lost.
