By 1970, 2 prototypes of the ZAZ-1102 were produced (according to some sources – ZAZ-PP-1102). These cars had a fastback body – there was not a full-fledged third door at the back, but a hatch leading to the luggage compartment.

A compact four-cylinder liquid-cooled MeMZ-201.10 engine (1 liter, 50 hp) was used, but one of the cars was distinguished by a highly raised front end – presumably another engine was installed on it that did not fit the originally planned dimensions.

Prototype with an increased height of the front volume.

It differs from the other prototype in the layout of the sidelights, wheel caps, the absence of “fangs” on the bumper, and the normal height of the engine compartment.
