The first experimental series of the “Moskvich” of the “3-5” project were variants of the car with different locations of the battery, gas tank, spare wheel, different shapes of side members and other search options.
The first car was built in December 1968, the second in March 1969. The power units consisted of a base Moskvich-412 engine and a serial gearbox or a high-power engine and a promising 412-20 gearbox (KP-9). Prototypes of this series were subjected to various tests, including crash tests and strain gauge studies.
