The car was built in May 1951. It had a lever-spring front suspension instead of the outdated Dubonnet suspension used on Moskvich 400 and 401 models.
This prototype did not resemble the future production car in any way and differed in many dimensions. The car underwent laboratory and road tests. Two types of engines were tested on it – the modernized lower valve 402 and 403 with upper intake and lower exhaust valves. Urgent work on the APA-7 airfield launch unit and its variants suspended the design of the 402-425 model for a year and a half.
